Hi folks,
I’ve got absolutely loads coming up over the next few weeks, quite a lot of it I’ve been preparing for over recent months. Well that’s my latest reason for failing to write regular website updates!
Firstly, in “you heard it here first” news, I’ve got a new EP coming out imminently. I know the correct phrase is that one “drops” an EP or album, but I don’t like dropping things. They might break! It’s rather different to anything of mine you’ve heard previously because… you’ve probably heard me mention being classically trained – well now I’m going to prove it! Here’s a sneak preview of the EP cover:

Advance copies should be available from early next week, featuring the following tracks:
1. Can Vei la Lauzeta – Bernart de Ventadorn (12th century Provencal/Occitan)
2. O Bid Your Faithful Ariel Fly – Thomas Linley/Richard Sheridan after William Shakespeare (c.1778)
3. Il Mio Ben Quando Verra – Giovanni Paisiello (1784)
4. Marbled Halls – Michael William Balfe, Alfred Bunn (1843)
Needless to say none of the tracks are quite ‘traditional’ and I hope you enjoy listening as much as we’ve enjoyed producing them!
This weekend I shall be playing at Gone to Earth festival at Stonham Barns near Stowmarket. My sets are 3pm on Saturday afternoon (on the inside stage thank goodness, because it looks set to be rather warm this weekend) and then the ‘breakfast set’ at 10:45am on the Sunday, followed by a songwriting workshop at 12 noon. Hope to see some of you there!
As soon as I finish at Gone to Earth I shall be heading into Bury St Edmunds for the final preparations of Bury Theatre Workshop’s production of The Tempest. I am playing Ariel so as well as singing most of the songs I’ve also arranged and produced most of the music. At various points during the show you will also find me playing either guitar, drum or whistles so do come along to the Abbey Gardens from Tuesday 19th to Saturday 23rd July, bring a picnic and enjoy! Tickets are available via the link earlier in this paragraph or just turn up on the night – contactless payments are available!
Straight after The Tempest finishes (well, the following Friday, 29th July) the second live and online David Wright and Carys ‘Beyond the Airwaves’ concert takes place. This time I will be opening and Stephan Whitlan (Code Indigo and many, many other bands) will be playing a set alongside David. Tickets for the live concert at The Pavilion, Bungay are available through the AD Music website or you can watch the livestream on David Wright’s youtube channel. Last time we had around 300 viewers on the night, so let’s see if we can beat that this time!
Until next time,
Carys xx
