where urban legends live
Here is the first teaser video for my new forthcoming musical Night:City. It’s very short… only 35 seconds, because we don’t want to give too much away just yet. There are a lot of surprises to come!
What I can tell you is that we’re halfway through creating the instrumental side of the soundtrack. The cast is finalised and it won’t be long before we start rehearsing and recording the vocals.
Most of the time I’m really excited, but occasionally – usually about 3am – I have a sudden OMG WHAT AM I DOING panic where my brain decides… actually at these points brain is usually doing nothing at all except the brain equivalent of curling up in a corner with a blanket and rocking gently.
(Did you think that sentence was going to get away from me? Yup, me too)
Today in the studio we’re working on the very oldest song. I actually wrote this one 12 years ago, which was when I first decided I was going to write a musical. As it happens, one doesn’t generally just decide to do a project like this… I had to wait a decade or so before my ability caught up with my ambition!
Anyway, some of you might recognise this track – and the urban legend it relates to – because I’ve performed it live in the past, though not for several years. Speaking of which – what do you think of ‘where urban legends live’ as a tagline? We rather like it!
